Glock in 2026: Gen6 Pistols and 15-Round Slimline Mags

Glock made two announcements in 2026 that matter to most buyers: the Gen6 pistol line and new 15-round magazines for the slimline G43X and G48 and the .22 LR G44. As a Glock Blue Label dealer, we get a lot of questions about both. Here is what Glock has actually announced, based on its own press releases.

What is the Glock Gen6?

Glock officially launched the Gen6 at SHOT Show on January 20, 2026. The first three models are the G17 Gen6, G19 Gen6 and G45 Gen6. Glock says Gen6 pistols have begun shipping to authorized dealers.

What’s different from Gen5?

According to Glock, the Gen6 changes focus on how the pistol fits your hand and how optics mount:

  • Flat-faced trigger. A change from the curved trigger shoe on earlier generations.
  • New Gen6 optic-ready system. Glock describes it as a new approach to mounting red dots.
  • Extended thumb rest and enlarged beavertail.
  • New, larger grip texture. Glock calls it RTF6, and it covers more of the frame, including the thumb rest.
  • Aggressively undercut trigger guard, in Glock’s words.

Glock also notes that the Gen6 keeps its three internal safeties, which are standard on all Glock pistols.

Should you pick a Gen6 or an earlier generation?

That depends on your hands and how you plan to use the pistol. If you already own Gen5 holsters, lights or optics, ask whether they fit the Gen6 before you switch. If you are buying your first handgun, our guide on choosing your first handgun can help you narrow it down. Holding both side by side is the best test.

Glock 15-round magazines for the G43X, G48 and G44

At the NRA Annual Meetings on April 17, 2026, Glock announced two new magazines:

  • G43X and G48 (9mm). These slimline pistols now come standard with a 15-round, metal, double-stack magazine. Glock says the magazine has a radius in the catch recess so it works with the standard magazine catch.
  • G44 (.22 LR). Now comes standard with a 15-round polymer double-stack magazine with a built-in load assist.

Glock said the magazines would reach dealers in May 2026. If you already own a G43X or G48, ask about fit and availability before you buy extra magazines.

Questions to ask before you buy a new Glock

New models and new magazines raise practical questions. Before you buy, it helps to check:

  1. Holster fit. A frame or slide change can affect fit, so confirm your holster maker lists the exact model and generation.
  2. Optic mounting. Glock calls the Gen6 optic system new, so check that your red dot and any plates are listed as compatible.
  3. Magazines. If you own a G43X or G48 with older 10-round magazines, ask whether you want to add 15-round magazines and confirm they fit your pistol.
  4. Lights and accessories. Check rail fit for weapon lights and lasers.

Bring your gear to the counter and we can help you check fit in person.

Can you carry a 15-round magazine in Indiana?

Indiana does not have a state magazine capacity limit. If you travel, check the laws where you’re going, because some states do limit magazine size. Our guide on transporting guns in Indiana covers the basics for moving firearms legally.
